Customers appreciate the lens’ quality, focal length, and photo quality. They find it sharp, with a good balance of wide angle and zoom to suit most filming situations. The build quality is excellent, and the autofocus is fast and accurate. However, some customers feel the lens is heavy and not good value for money.

can’t seem to hate
this thing was pretty expensive. it’s also heavy. i bought it with a credit card so i’ve really been testing it out trying to hate it. if i hate it. the. i can return and feel better about spending money i don’t have. i threw it on my a7riii and it has not come off. sure. sometimes i wanna go closer than 35mm. and yes. i want to go past 150. but the range of this lens is perfect. i threw on my sigma 24-70. it came off instantly and the tamron came back on. it’s a fun lens. the custom buttons are rad and idk. it’s a dope lens. i have my camera with me at all times. i fact it’s in my bed next to me right now. if i’m not shooting. i’m not ok. i just ordered the 150-500 from tamron. the build quality is solid. i fell into this black abyss climbing a roof at night to get shots of a fire. and smashed this thing on the ground. nothing happened. i’ve spilled drinks on it. i use it. and it feels durable. it is expensive. and its pretty damn heavy. i can’t tell you to buy or not. i’ll be able to tell you after i use this thing until it’s dead. i mean. i just got it. i will test it until it breaks.

Big but amazing
This is the only lens I use for photography. It is a big and heavy lens so walking with it around your neck for a long time can hurt, but it takes amazing photos. I hoped to use it for video, but it was too big for my gimble. Handheld video is tough because there is internal lens stabilization and the thing is so heavy its hard not to get some shaky video. But it’s a great all-around camera for photos.

This is a Tamron?
All I can say is WOW! I purchased the 35-150, to replace my Tamron 281200 zoom. The 28-200 was nice, but never as sharp as I wanted. I used it as my go to travel lens. I have two Sony bodies, the A7iv and the A7Riii. I have used many zoom lenses over the years, mainly for the convenience of not having to change lenses in the field. I currently use a Sony 200-600, for wildlife, which is an outstanding piece of glass. Now back to the Tamron 35-150. I ordered it knowing it would be a heavier lens and it is quite a bit heavier than the 28-200. I have not taken it on long excursions yet, so don’t know how fatiguing it will be to carry around all day, especially if I am also carrying the Sony 200-600. The f2.8 will allow me to capture some shots at dawn and dusk, as well in other low light conditions. The five stars I gave it, well, I believe this lens is the absolute sharpest zoom lens I have ever owned. The build quality is excellent. Auto-focus is fast and accurate. I have put it through many tests and the results are phenomenal! This is the case through the entire range from f2.8 through f22. Tamron really hit one out of the park with this lens. Sony needs to catch up with this lens!

Perfect all in one lens with one big flaw
If you are looking to buy only one lens or you want to buy a lens that doesn’t require you to carry a bunch of other ones for on the go filming, then this is the lens. It has the perfect balance of wide angle and zoom to get by in most filming situations. BUT there is one big flaw. The zoom ring is very tight and very difficult to get a smooth zoom in or out while filming. Sony lenses don’t have this issue. This is my big caveat with this lens. I hope over time the zoom ring will lose up but I doubt it will ever be smooth enough to have a smooth zoom in and out transition while filming. One other thing is this lens is very heavy so using it during long shoots while not on a tripod isn’t ideal. Overall though I think it is a great lens for the price and for what you get. I used to use the Tamron 24mm to 105mm as my main go to lens but this is now replacing that lens for me due to the zoom and the 2-2.8f aperture.

Amazing travel lens!
One and done travel lens. Takes beautiful sharp pictures. Just have to be ready to lug around a heavy lens. It does get a bit heavy by the end of the day. Definitely a pit in the backpack type and not a wear around the neck type.

Best Standard Zoom for Sony FE
If there is only one lens you want to buy for Sony FE mount, this should be top of the list. Having focal length from 35-150 and aperture from f2 – f2.8, makes it a perfect one lens solution that can handle everything from regular snapshots to portraits both in good and low light. One con about this lens is the high price and the weight but considering that it can easily replace both 24-70 and 70-200 f2.8 lenses, it is a great alternative.

Good lens but could be so much better.
We own 2 of these lenses. The focal range 35-150 is awesome. It works great for the vast majority of weddings, is very good for portraits, and decent for sports. Both lenses are VERY soft on the edges, which makes it useless for large group or family photos. (this on both our A1’s and A7R5) And you have to be mindful when zooming. When tracking a subject if you zoom in or out it will often lose focus. Sometimes a little and sometimes a lot. So it is track, zoom, reacquire. We have had pretty good success photographing basketball and volleyball as long as you keep in mind the focus zoom issue. The zoom is pretty stiff and will loosen some with time. Dust sealing is also an issue, both lenses have pulled in dust and you can easily see it on the interior elements. (we don’t baby or equipment, we are out in the elements all the time) So is it worth it? Well until Sony comes out with a similar focal range at the same f-stop, a solid maybe. As long as you are OK with the issues we have found.

Sin duda el mejor lente que he tenido en mis manos, he probado bastantes, y la versatilidad que ofrece es una maravilla, además de que no le pide nada a lentes más luminosos o fijos

My favorite focal lengths are 35 and 85, sometimes wish I had an AF 135. Now it’s all in one lens with good large aperture of f/2 – 2.8.Pros: wonderfully sharp from wide open, and is very versatile for my uses.Cons: bokeh is nice and smooth wide open, but when stopped down, the quality of bokeh degrades – I didn’t try at every aperture, but found f/8 to become overly busy and with brighter outlines around bokeh balls. The lens is quite large and heavy. So while the focal length is perfect for street photography, it will definitely draw attention. On a a7m4, I found it to be a bit nose heavy, so I got a battery grip to balance it out a bit – results are not bad, but now I end up with a setup just as large as my old full frame DSLR.The zoom ring is reverse to what I’m used to, so that will take some time to get accustomed to.Overall, very happy with this lens. But it does make me look into acquiring prime lenses again for more compact setup.

I previously had the Sigma 24-70 and the 70-200.I do a lot of hiking, camping, and travelling and I hate bringing so many lenses. I decided to risk it and get this Tamron 35-150. And I’m so glad I did! It’s an amazing lens. No ragrets. Not a single letter.. now, I need to sell my 70-200 as I don’t use it anymore.
