    Good start on the subject
This is a pretty informative book about the subject of adaptations. Provides recipes as well as information about the plants. I most likely would not bother making the more time intensive variations.

    Could be more informational.
Had a paragraph for each adaptogen. I fele it could have laid out more information about things.

    Very helpful, informative book!
Having studied herbs for 40+ years and having cooked for 60+ (since I could stand on a chair) I think I’m well qualified to give a report on this book. Bottom line: this is a valuable addition to my, or anyone’s, library.Full of tables, recipes, and glossaries that offer insight and information that will help us throughout our lives, it is a very valuable resource book. It is valuable for the layman as well as the professional cook/ gardener/ herbologist. Valuable as well for anybody who is interested in their health, as we all should be! This book enhances and informs our education on herbs, particularly the adaptogenic herbs, as well as other general fresh &/or dried herbs and the foods that will combine well with them. A perfect marriage! So much better than reaching for drugs or even a ” natural” capsule, when you don’t even know/understand what’s in it. Having this book in hand you will know WHY the particular herbs and their combinations and recipes will work for you or not.Truly don’t get all these bad reviews. Frankly I think those people didn’t actually read the book, just glanced through it. Having lived with this book for several weeks now and having worked on/completed several of the recipes already, I think it’s fantastic! It gives me answers to many questions I had, e.g. what do I do with maca root? (besides sprinkle it on yogurt?)As an avid reader and former proofreader / copywriter, I’ll give my review now on the physical book itself. Rather large, but not too big or heavy even for my arthritic hands, it has somewhat glossy, easy to turn, pages. IOW quality paper. The font is a good size and easy to read w/o being stupidly “large print”. True, the pictures of herbs are more often actually illustrations; whereas the real pictures are more often photos of the finished recipes. But you can always Google what the herb plant looks like, right? You can’t Google what the (finished) recipe looks like! I think it was a good decision on their part. Leads me to believe that those reviewers are just being too fussy and negative. As to the tools specified and having to buy too many of them… Again, I think these people didn’t actually read the book. e.g. a “glass funnel” is explained in 1-1/3 pages how to cheaply and easily MAKE out of an old wine bottle. So what’s the problem?I have many books by now on herbs, herbology, growing herbs in the home garden, how to use herbs in cooking and also as medicine, and I have used and done all this for many years. I also have many, many cookbooks of all kinds. Yet I do believe this is a valuable addition to my library, one which I purchased immediately upon reading (after borrowing from the library). I highly recommend this book.

As a newbie to adaptogens I absolutely love this book. It is beautifully designed and clear to understand. It focuses on few adaptogens and offers easy recipes on how to use them in every day. I think this book can be taken as sampling of the subject to see if you would like to dive deeper in the field or not. It definitely sparked my interest and I will be exploring the subject further.
