I love these cameras
So I bought one I installed it set it up in about half hour. The instructions are very simple to follow. I absolutely love this camera. The quality is excellent. The picture is outstanding. It actually works better than my ring. Floodlight camera. Much better picture quality. The solar panel is nice. It is not too big or bulky and it works awesome and keeps my battery completely charged. I love it so much. I bought another one and that one worked just as good as the original. If youâre looking for a good solar powered battery camera give this one a try. It is definitely worth the money.

Works Very Well
I purchased this wireless remote camera as I needed a unit that was completely wireless, with no plug in electricity necessary. The other popular wireless remote cameras all seem to need a module that must be plugged into an electric outlet to transmit the picture. The TP-Link Tapo camera directly connects to a local wifi network (yes, it does need to connect to local wifi to be able to monitor remotely) but works solely from it’s own battery.I installed this on my boat at a marina to keep an eye on the boat over the winter. Camera setup was easy, as was the solar panel (with the included very long cord! I purchased the camera with solar panel kit). It connected to the marina wifi without difficulty, and I can check on the boat from home. Recently I was traveling and had no problem connecting to the camera as long as I had cellular service! The solar panel has kept the battery charged at 100% with no issues. The alert options work well – I set the ‘person’ alert, and when I occasionally go to the boat to check on it, I immediately get an alert on my phone that a person has been detected on the boat and the available video it records is very clear. I record to a 128gb installed in the camera, I didn’t purchase a cloud subscription. This TP-Link Tapo camera has more than exceeded my expectations.

Great Camera, but not without issues.
Let me begin by saying this is an absolutely great camera, especially for places that you may not have an option to connect a power source. The mount and housing feels very well made with durable materials and the instructions are fairly simple. The base for the camera can be removed from the mount and installed separately from the solar panel. a 12ft USB-C extension cable is included, along with a blank cap for the mount to cover the area where the camera base should be. Additionally the packaging includes 2 additional o-rings for the USB-C cable, 2 gasket for the power connection on the camera, and 2 plugs for the screw holes on the mount.Setup is like any other Tapo/Kasa device, power on, wait for the orange/green led, add device to respective app, and connect to WiFi. Picture quality is amazing, voices are clear, and there are plenty of settings to configure to meet your needs. One option I wish it had would have been 24/7 continuous recording, but due to the drain it would put on the battery I completely understand why itâs motion based recordings instead. With a 32gb MicroSD, I was able to get about 11 days of recordings and only used about 3gb.As great as a camera it is, it has one major issue, which I can see a lot of people complaining about. The camera without the mount or ball joint is 8.7oz / 246.64g. The base of the ball joint is a hard plastic and does not have a rubber pad inside to provide some resistance. When mounting the camera in a horizontal position, the weight causes the camera to tilt downward. A temporary fix I used a 3/4in piece of a 1/4in wide rubber band, rolled it up and stuffed it into the collar of the ball joint. This provides enough resistance to keep the camera up, This same issue also exists on the solar panel ball joint, but because the panel is light weight, it doesnât move. Iâd be more worried about it come winter and a heavy snow fall. Another less significant issue is with the o-rings on the USB-C connector. It comes off very easily. I actually lost the one that came installed on it, within 5min of removing from the packaging. Thankfully there are additional o-rings included. All in all, as I stated, itâs a great setup that works really well. The issues seem to be minor enough that could be worked out by simply modifying the base of the ball joints. Hopefully TP-Link can work that out and supply us with a permanent fix.

Best 2K Tapo solar panel on the market for sure !
These camaras are the clearest videos ever and they stay fully charged by solar panel ! Iâve had them up over a week now still 100% charge and they are so clear and you can pull the videos up close and see the back in the videos just as clear! Best brand I have used yet I highly recommend and I love the alarm it has preset messages that rock ! Highly recommended item! Thanks Linda Torres
