Live monitoring and power cost
A very well designed app for measuring and displaying ongoing electrical usage. Along with that, the app can use detailed time-driven costs (here in Virginia daily cost levels are Peak, Off Peak and Super Off Peak). But there’s more–the app can store the days of the week and times of the year for rate changes every day, year-round. These are used to calculate accurate electric costs for the monitored device.The app provides graphing and storage of the kWh (kilowatt hour) usage data. I learned, for example, that a big, old refrigerator freezer is projected to use $355 in electricity per year! Just what I needed to decide to replace the worn out appliance.The Smart Plug also can be scheduled to turn a device on and off, down to the minute on each day of the week, and repeat on a weekly basis – for hardly more than the price of a simple programmed plug.All the results are provided with a well designed and easy to use app. Highly recommended for measuring large appliances.

One of the easiest things I ever setup
I have a house of close to 50 devices and all work qoth smartthings and alexa. This plug took under 2 minutes to pair and add into smartthings. I used bluetooth mode vs wifi with the tape app and then link tape app to integrate with smartthings (from within smartthings) and working. Only thing easier is Lutron things but they cost close to 4x as much. Low cost plug that seems to work… so far! This will go in garage on an external camera that in the winter i will not have to go into cold garage to reset camera. All for ten bucks. Nice!!!!

Inaccurate charts and missing data
Jan 2025 – one of these outlets had started to not record data – it shows my drive ran for 9 hours but then there is no data – see pictures.LOOK FOR BETTER OPTIONSThe power curves are inaccurate, but it does a decent job of capturing power usage and estimating cost. Its read rate inevitably creates inaccurate charts. See my pics. I have a wine room AC unit that cycles on for 5 minutes, and this device mostly shows power spikes, not the duration of time the unit is on. The chart with the long flat section is completely wrong. The unit shut off numerous times during that period. Again is approximately correct but donât rely on it for precision if youâre monitoring devices.

Works but sometimes glitches out
This works but it sometimes will glitch and shut off and then I would have to manually unplug and replug it back in just to turn it on. I have also had to reconnect it to my phone twice due to it losing access for no reason.
