An absolute lifesaver-Given me peace of mind
A few years ago, the cat distribution system gifted me with an Orange tabby on my front step who wanted very much to come inside. Since then, my scruffy street cat has turned into a cuddle bug, but the one thing I havenât been able to do is keep him indoors 24-7, even though I know thatâs the safest for cats. He will scream bloody murder for hours if he doesnât get to go out in the morning and evening.Initially I was using a pet collar that had an attachment for an Apple AirTag to make sure he sticks close to home, but I found it fairly inaccurate since it only pings off of other Apple devices in the area. I kept seeing advertisements for Tractive on social media, and after reading the reviews on Amazon, I decided to get their cat GPS collar and subscription. It was money well spent. The device is pretty lightweight, although still big enough that I take it off when he has to eat or sleep. It has shown me his daily routes and routines, and now I know he is pretty close by and doesnât venture far (sometimes just snoozing under the porch). It also has the ability to sound a device alarm if it gets lost (he did lose it in a bush one day and I was easily able to retrieve it with the GPS and sound feature). You can even turn on a little light remotely from the app if your pet is outside in the dark.My only âcomplaintâ is that the silicone holder has already torn a little, but my cat really puts it through the wringer, so it is negligible. I would definitely recommend Tractive to all pet ownersâI wish I had this back when I had a Coonhound puppy who got lost for 3 days before we found him. Never again! Thanks Tractive.

I could go on and on about this tracker. Iâm obsessed. My cat biscuit is outdoor during the day- indoor at night. Afterv a scary 2 days of him not returning home I bought this tracker for a piece of mind and holy f am I glad I did.The green square is setup as a âsafe zoneâ tracker is untraceable in this perimeter you set based off WiFi and it helps save the battery life.(though you can use Bluetooth to see where theyâre at in the âhome zoneâ) I choose not too bc if heâs on my property, idc where. lol. However it does tell you heâs âsafe and sound in âhomeâ perimeterâthe red zones are âno go zonesâ I live on a corner lot so I set the perimeter for âno go zonesâ a few yards before the street. I get a text immediately when he crosses BOTH home zone and no go zones so I can easily call him in away from the street. OR I turn the sound on so he knows itâs time to come home. <âthat part took some training and plenty of treats. The YELLOW zone sets itself after a few weeks use to show the area the cat/dog is spending most time. It's extremely accurate and if youâre worried about coverage- donât be. I live in a very wooded area where he goes as far as 3-4 MILES away from home and heâs easily detected. I used this Tracker when Iâm out of STATE (NY) and can still track him here in GA.As for size I got a mini. Biscuit is 1 year old. 10pounds. He Didnât like the collar at first but got used to it quickly. Itâs light but I take it off him at night. now he knows when it goes on in the AM heâs allowed outside so he waits patiently for it.Charging takes literal minutes. As I mentioned he goes out during the day- in at night so I charge it at night/every other night. As for battery life- for example 0700-1800- battery will go from 100% to about 70% BUT this depends largely on how much you are actively on the app monitoring him. Itâs not rocket science. The more you watch- the quicker the battery life diminishes. I can say Iâve not charged the device for 2-3 days and Iâve never once had it die. Including the two times he managed to get his collar(with tracker attached) off- he still came home, but I work night shift so I left it outside to find the next day- and did. Iâm not worried about losing him or this tracker for my very active biscuit. The price for a piece of mind in my book is a no brainer. I wish I found this sooner. The tracker itself is cheap to me for what you get. I opted for the year subscription to test it out. After this year I will be renewing for the 5 year subscription. Please get this tracker for yr fur babies . Itâs worth every penny.

Tractive not attractive in many ways! AWFUL GPS
1. The battery life on the device sucks. And it sucks even more because the makers of this created a way to “save battery” by asking users to set up a Power Saving Zone. This requires setting up your home wi-fi to search for your pet via bluetooth under a tab called FIND NEARBY. They wanted to do the same thing the makers of Tile, Airtag and Galaxy Smartag did. However Tile , Airtag, etc. do not force you to have your phone GPS on at all times for this Power Safe Zone to work just via BLUETOOTH. Yet Tractive does which in turn extends the device’s battery and instead drains your phone battery. Why Tractive engineers force having phone GPS on with a feature that doesn’t find the pet via GPS. Strange!2. The IRONY of all the above is that the 2nd way Tractive allows you to track your pet is via Google GPS with a tab called LIVE. You can ONLY use the LIVE tab if you are far away from your home’s wi-fi Power Saving Zone since this feature really uses just GPS. Even turning off wi-fi on your phone WON’T allow you to use LIVE. One could think who cares to use LIVE via GPS if the cat is at home. EXCEPT if you set up Power Safe Zone it seems 70% of the time you cannot track the cat with FIND NEARBY. In other words setting Power Safe Zone messes up the app and your cat is untraceable . So you won’t know if cat left the house!I kept thinking it was a fluke . Attempted every solution to a lame girl. Erase cache on app, log in and out of the app, get close to the pet. ONLY SOLUTION was to erase the Wi-fi Power Saving Zone .3. After erasing the unusable “power saving zone” the battery on the device lasted about 40 hours. It takes around 3 hours for the device’s battery to charge. A cat or dog can get lost during this time. So I STRONGLY ADVICE swapping your pet to a temporarily Airtag if you have an Iphone or a Smarttag PLUS if you have a newer Samsung Galaxy. These bluetooth trackers are pretty accurate and have longer range bluetooth capability than Tractive. You are not required to have GPS enabled on your phone at all times to track your pet via bluetooth since they are not GPS trackers. They also don’t require a subscription. Having them wear something is better than nothing unless you want to purchase 2 Tractives devices AND pay 2 subscriptions for just 1 pet while one of the devices is charging. But wait read more…4. Tractive Ring tone is very low. The Galaxy Smartag Plus and Tile ring tone are a lot louder. You better wear a hearing aid to find your pet via the Tractive ring tone.5. While learning the Tractive app found an “interesting” button called Heat and Tracemap. This button supposedly shows where your cat has been. Somehow it showed my cat had moved 407 feet. Not sure how this could have happened. Unless my cat has invisible levitating powers unbeknown to me. The device was on my lap then on my cat who sat 5 feet away from me. Another fluke!6. Tractive has a tab called Virtual Fences. I live in a 4000 + sq foot home with 80 feet length of AC area. Was getting excited something finally would be of use in this app. Wanted to know if my cat jumped out in the pool, yard or escaped. EXCEPT when setting the perimeter around my home I kept getting a warning saying: ” The Virtual Fence is Too Small” . What?7. Tractive requires you to pay RIGHT AWAY for a subscription. You don’t even get a 1 day free trial test. Buy the device and be ready to pay upfront 1 year. Yes feel free to waste your time asking for your money back because we all have lots of it to spare trying to recover the $ that took us time to make.Dear Garmin please start making GPS devices for cats. You guys are the gurus of anything GPS.For now I will be testing the Marco Polo tracker and use this Tractive to track coons and possums inside my garbage can instead. That may be the only place this stupid device works.

Weâve been using the Tractive for several months now and would highly recommend it. It works as advertised, and our cat tolerates it exceptionally well. The charge lasts for a few days. I would definitely recommend using the soft flexible case rather than the hard shell to hold the tracker as it is much more secure. The customer support has been great too!

Es compacto, marca bien el GPS y es fácil de entender, tengan en cuenta la suscripción aún a la aplicación pero vale la pena.Lo único que no me.gusta es que la.bateria no dura lo que menciona

Love these trackers! Love the peace of mind knowing where my fur baby is when outside during the day. It really earned its keep when he got swept down a drain in a horrendous storm and spat out into the water catchment 700 metres away. I had to wade into the reeds to rescue him. Would never have found him without the tracker! They can be a bit temperamental in bad weather but thatâs a small price to pay. Charge lasts about 4 days.

I purchased 2 trackers for my cats and signed up for the base monitoring subscription services. The trackers work great and the cats donât seem to mind wearing them when I send them outside. The trackers havenât fallen out of the collar and have good battery life. The Tractive app is great because, it track where in the neighbourhood the cat wanders throughout the day and the amount of distance covered. I have had to go find the cat a few times and the GPS is accurate for finding them when they are out late and you need to go get them. From the app you can trigger a sound and light from the tracker to help in locating the pet. The sound that is made is not the loudest; but having the option is nice.I did have trouble with once of the trackers connecting to the GPS and worked with customer service. They tried several options to restart and reset the tracker; but after a few unsuccessful trys they sent a replacement GPS tracker. The dialog with customer service was quick and polite, while I wasnât happy that the GPS wasnât working Derek from customer service was responsible and did his best to help me out and add a month of extra subscription for the inconvenience.Overall very satisfied with the product, service, and partner app. I have peace of mind that my cats can be easily located and I can track where they are and go.
