Whole Organic Hemp Seeds– A Rarity
I’ve been trying to find organic hemp seeds for my parrots, but they’re next to impossible to find. I’ve had to buy them from a company that sells “nuts” online for human consumption; they were expensive, and were not organic, and there was no freshness date on the package, so the seeds went rancid before I used them up.When I saw these on Amazon, I wrote to the manufacturer via an Amazon message, to ask if they also sold the seeds WITH the hulls still on. (Hemp seeds are great for parrots, because they contain all the essential amino acids.) I was thrilled to get an affirmative response. After clarifying what I hoped would happen, I ordered the product listed (3 pounds of hemp hearts), and they sent me 5 pounds — yes, FIVE pounds– for the same price! It’s a wonderful company that sells a great product at a reasonable price, and my birds love it. (I find the seeds tasty, too, and a good source of fiber.)

Easy, tasty protein boost
I sprinkle 3 tablespoons of these in oatmeal, salads, etc as a source of good fat and high quality protein (10 grams!) Very fresh, with a nutty flavor. I transfer some into a mason jar and keep a one tablespoon scoop in there. I keep the jar and the bag in the fridge. Try it, you’ll like it!
