Brilliant blue!
I bought this Spirulina powder to color items for an upcoming birthday party. I wanted a natural alternative to artificial dyes but with blue color. I put 1/4 top in a glass of milk and blended it up to see if it would color it sufficiently and whether it would taste odd.To my surprise, the small amount changed the color of the milk significantly blue. Obviously it is pastel because it started out white, but there was strong enough color that I think it will be perfect for what I plan to use it for. There’s no smell, and in my opinion no taste! I was shocked! I expected an earthy taste. I did have to use a small milk frother to blend the powder fully as it floated and clumped in some spots at the top. It is a small bag, but a very little amount went a long way so this should last you a while.I did not buy this for the health benefits (except the healthy absence of artificial dyes), but I am looking forward to taking it and seeing the results.

Great as a natural food coloring
I used this for my daughterâs volcano dinosaur, mermaid sea birthday cake. It was a vegan cheezecake style cake, the part that i added the spirulina to the main ingredient was cashews so was a creamy color before adding the spirulina. I didnât need a lot just about two teaspoons. It did not add a bad flavor & my kids found the color so fun. I was happy because it added the color we wanted without adding anything unhealthy. I will happily use it again when I want this color in something i make, i wish i had found this option sooner because i have made a lot of cakes for my children that ideally needed it.

I just try to be healthier. This could help me a lot by adding little bit of blue powder. Making my smoothie looks delicious. Just little pricey. I believe itâs no flavor.

Terribly packaging wastes this pricey product
For as expensive per ounce as this is, the packaging shouldnât suck so much.It comes in a âresealable pouchâ (like a Ziplock bag), but you have to tear it open first; I did and the resealable seal wasnât sealed within, and even though I noticed that, and tried to let it settle to the bottom first, a BUNCH of the powder still shot out of the bag when I opened it. And the seal doesnât actually reseal, so I had to put it inside an actual Ziplock bag, and powered still got everywhere just while I was doing that. Super wasteful. It should come in a better container.
