The software app is not easy to use.

Not what you’d expect
It will sometimes charge your EV, but don’t expect the phone app to work at all. Super frustrating experience and Siemens customer support is hit or miss. They will respond if they feel like it. If you are looking for a ‘dumb’ charger with promised remote control that doesn’t work and minimal customer support, all at a premium price, this is the charger you want. I wish I had known all this before purchase. I expected better from Siemens but really got burned on this one.

I purchased my Siemens charger in Jan’20 (prior generation). Today I called their customer service because the charger was not working. They said that since I am out of warranty they cannot help me. They don’t sell parts and they don’t know anyone who can repair them.

Great EV charger for all standard Installations
This is a 40 amp, they also come in a 48 amp option. They work well if you know how to install them. I suggest wire that is one size larger than code. 40 AMP #6, 50 AMP circuit breaker(Over current protection) 48 AMP #4 THHN CU, 60 AMP circuit breaker (Over current protection) They also work with Tesla if you have the charger adapter that comes with the car when you purchase them. The commercial Siemens options for these chargers allows for credit card payments, to collect revenue and 3 phase for up to 22KW output.

Just stopped working, Terrible customer service
This EVSE stopped working on us in less than a year. When we 1st set it up, the mobile app was very iffy about whether it would work. About 6 months later, the charger stopped charging altogether and the customer service has been terrible. It’s been almost 2 months and our issue still isn’t resolved. There are much more reliable chargers out there for a cheaper price. I wouldn’t waste my money on this one. Buy ChargePoint, JuiceBox, Emporia, or even the J-1772 version of Tesla.
