super solid router/AP
First, This is an AX router/AP, the description doesn’t specifically say AX, but it is, implied for sure by the model name AX1800.This comes with all the needed parts and pieces to get it setup outside. POE injector, proper mounts, etc. It also has a high quality feel to it, like some other higher end gear I have like a juniper AP.The performance is also very good. I was testing it, with the AP inside my house and still getting 80+Mbps downloads over 200 feet away outside. 5Ghz performed better than 2.4Ghz, but that’s expected.Close range it’s on par with my other good quality retail consumer routers, such as linksys and netgear. Close range I could get a real world 600+Mbps download with my 1 gig internet connection. Even 3 feet away in a different room I was still able to get well over 300Mpbs down over 5G.The interface is nice and simple, should be easy enough for anyone that knows a little about these things to setup.The glass antennas are labels specifically to the 2.4 or 5Ghz bands, so just a thing to look out for when you’re assembling this unit.It does support WPA3 as well.I’m pretty impressed with this unit, high quality for sure. Can’t wait for warmer weather to get this mounted outside and enjoy high speed wifi from my nearby park!

That is 10″ without any of the four antennas attached. This also comes with a connector to add power to your ethernet cable and a plug in adapter to supply the connecor with mains power.I got this to add to the side of my house to add wifi to our detached garages and workshops.It has 4 mounting keyholes on the back but rather than leaving this mounted to a flat wall on the side of my house I am now looking for some sort of post mount so I can mount it away from the wall.Thank you for reading my review and looking at my photos of this product. This unit is exceptionally well-made and designed to perform. The antennas are large, sturdy, and have a premium feel. All potential points of water intrusion are well-sealed, and after multiple tests with a water hose, it has proven to be fully waterproof without missing a beat. The included PoE adapter is a fantastic addition, making installation incredibly simple. Setup is straightforward as well; with the provided instructions, a moderately tech-savvy user can have it up and running in just 10 minutes.Iâve mounted this router about 15 feet up on the side of my house, which is situated roughly 10 feet above the surrounding area. This placement ensures the router is clear of obstructions and optimized for signal propagation. I conducted several real-world speed tests while walking toward my shop using an iPhone 15 Pro Max (without a case, to ensure optimal performance). ⢠At 200 feet: I recorded speeds of 82 Mbps down and 7 Mbps up. ⢠At 275 feet: Speeds were 68 Mbps down and 11 Mbps up. ⢠At 350 feet (outside my shop): I achieved 58 Mbps down and 12 Mbps up.The routerâs location plays a significant role in its performance. Itâs mounted against a metal wall, which reflects signals toward the target area, maximizing coverage.Overall, this unit delivers excellent performance, especially considering its ease of setup and installation. With proper mounting and positioning, it offers strong, consistent speeds over impressive distances. Highly recommended for anyone looking for reliable outdoor Wi-Fi coverage.

Amazing range. Rugged design.
This outdoor AP is the mother of all APs! At least for consumer / small business use.It’s pretty big. It measures about a foot on each side with four huge antennas out the top.It’s easy to set up.It has a mesh mode (untested) and I am hoping it will work with my other wavlink outdoor AP.The range really is impressive. I had it running in my basement, and it gave a good signal throughout my entire house all the way to the fourth floor, where any other AP just wouldn’t cover that much with the AP in the second floor. We plan to use it outdoors as intended.The extra grounding will come in really handy.
