It took me THREE DAYS and numerous attempts to connect it without downloading another app, which was the primary reason for choosing a matter-enabled plug. Eventually, it connected and I was able to control it with an Alexa Echo Dot 5th using voice commands.[GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS & ITEM-SPECIFIC TIPS FOR SETUP]1. POWER ON BLUETOOTH: Ensure your phoneâs Bluetooth is on.2. WI-FI CONNECTION: Connect your phone and smart home device to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.3. PROXIMITY: Plug the smart outlet into a socket close to your Alexa/Google device for initial setup.4. PAIRING MODE: Press and hold the button on the outlet for at least 5 seconds until it blinks, indicating pairing mode.5. SCAN QR CODE: Use the QR code found on the smart plug or in the instruction booklet.6. ð¢IMPORTANT: SERVICE SELECTION: Verify the displayed smart home service is correct. If not, select the right one. Note: The pairing code is for a SINGLE SMART HOME service. To change which service controls the outlet, factory reset the plug by holding the power button for 15 seconds and then create a new pairing code.7. Started a FIRE! In my bedroom!
Setup was a little rocky but worked wonderfully. I had it in my bedroom for some Christmas lights I had setup around the room. It works nicely with Apple home app as well, however I noticed on the first night that my Christmas lights were on overdrive and looked extra bright. The next night (after only 1 hour of use), I went to go turn it on only to discover that my Christmas lights had been burnt out and had started a mini fire in one of my corners of my room. I am PISSED! To say the least. Do not buy, and will not buy again. It is being returned ASAP! All the black you see in the photo provided is from burnt out lights/fire.
