Smart Plug, Long Range, Energy Monitor, Remote Control, Automated Schedules. Amazing!
I have been using another brand of smart plug for around a decade now, but they don’t do one designed for outdoors use, and since I’ve been very happy with all my other YoLink devices, I thought I should try this out. First up, like every YoLink product it feels solid and well built. I paired it in seconds, and plugged it in, and was up and running straight away. You can remotely control it from your phone, turn it on or off manually, or set schedules, or use a countdown timer as well. The scheduling is really cool because once you program the schedule from the phone, the schedule is stored on the actual smart plug. That means even if there’s no internet connection, your schedules will continue to run. That’s really nice for peace of mind. Secondly, the chances of this losing internet are pretty low. Unlike my other smart plugs that are hit or miss picking up a WiFi signal, this YoLink smart plug uses LoRa like all their other devices. That means great range, far exceeding that of WiFi. Unless you live in a Beverly Hills sized mansion your YoLink devices will have a strong signal and work reliably. But it’s not just a smart outlet, it’s an energy monitor too! I have a whole home energy monitoring solution from another company and they sell smart plugs, but theirs can’t cope with more than 10A continuous use. The YoLink one supports 15A continuous current, which basically means that anything that can plug in, will work fine. You can also set up “if this, then that” type routines. For example if you wanted to turn on something to scare off an attempted break in, you could do that. I have YoLink vibration sensors on some of my doors and windows so if those detect vibration I could then turn on outside lights. With YoLink’s other products there’s a million different permutations of smart home routines you could set up. Turn on a heater when the temperature drops? No problem. One of the reasons I like YoLink products is how well designed they are. One example of that is the plug that goes into the outlet is really compact. That’s great because bulky plugs often don’t fit in outdoor weather proof boxes, or in multi-outlets with lots of plugs next to it.Overall, I think for everything this can do, it’s well worth the money.Yes, you will need a YoLink hub, but once you have one of those you can add as many YoLink devices as you like. If you haven’t already got their water leak sensors those should be your next purchase, to protect your home from the risk of expensive water damage.

Wow! These Perform Fantastic! Better Connectivity so far Than SmartThings
I was looking for something to monitor the temps of the refrigerator and freezers following a 12 hour power outage. Obviously I needed something which didn’t require opening the fridge door. (My modem and router are on UPS’s.) Also, another friend was gone for 4 days and his main refrigerator stopped working. The ice melted, the freezer contents melted and he had to move out of his house for the repairs.I found these YoLink products and thought I’d give them a try because their claim is a longer range (even through things like metal refers and freezers), WAY more range than typical devices, and minimal battery usage. They’re are RIGHT! These things work through my metal refrigerators and through the metal on the chest freezer. I now have accurate reporting AND the ability to set parameters for alerts. In digging more into YoLink, I found they are a US based company. They also have home automation devices that also share long range connections.I have many home automation devices on my SmartThings hub (Zigbee and Z Wave). I bought a few YoLink outlets to see how they performed.I had connectivity to the YoLink outlets over 800′ away in our barn!! They didn’t quite reach the street 1400′ away though. I’d love to have full automation all the way to the street for holiday decorations and more. I found YoLink can have more than one hub on the same network so I bought a hub for my barn. Bam! Works!! (The barn has a long range WiFi antenna which picks up the house’s WiFi.)This is a brief recap. Hope it helps. Their devices are less expensive versus Zigbee or Z Wave devices. Although I have not dug into elaborate programming yet (like doing things when you arrive home or leave or temp/weather related automations), it appears this cold be a viable, better and cheaper replacement for ZigBee and Z Wave automation devices.Hope this helps everyone!

Yolink Products
I’ve been using Yolink’s Temperature/Humidity sensors in my freezers for over a year and they have been working great. Decided to also put one in my safe to monitor humidity and use this remote smart receptacle to turn the dehumidifying heating rod off/on rather than have it run all the time. This way I can maintain the humidity within an acceptable range and conserve electricity. They both work great through the safe’s 1/2″ steel plate and has a strong signal. Very satisfied and will continue to add Yolink products.

Great Products – Hit all my check marks for making the leap into home automation
I have been holding off on a home automation solution because I couldn’t find a brand that had all the functionality I was looking for along with ease of setup and affordability. I stumbled across yolink and cautiously gave them a chance since I never heard of them before. I’m glad I did and have since recommended them to a number of my friends. Everything works as should and I love the smart IFTTT integrations. The possibility’s are endless. I’ve since setup water detectors, motion detectors (Mailbox w/alexa integration), garage doors controllers and 12 wifi light switches so I can easily control all of my outdoor lights. All works great. The wireless range on these devices is amazing too. I was hesitant because I didn’t want to add a hub but after learning more about LoRa and the range it broadcasts I’m glad I did.
